Brooklyn Woodshop was formed in 2013 by three friends with a mutual love and admiration for design and woodworking. These guys work mostly in custom furniture design, building pieces to enhance life in the small living spaces of New York City.

Michael Matthews went to school for Strategic design and management at Parsons, The New School for Design. While attending school, he began to build frames for fellow students. From there he began expanding into furniture before getting together with Chris Abbadessa and Michael Sheets to form Brooklyn Woodshop.

Chris Abbadessa is a hands on worker, first working general construction before apprenticing with another New York woodworker and then forming his own company. Michael Sheets also worked in general construction and woodworking before moving to New York. He began by building frames for fellow artists in the area, while also building furniture for his own home.

The three guys got together and discovered a mutual love for the same work, then quickly formed a company and began building. They are driven by creating new, unique, and functional furniture and pieces for the city.

We are collaborating with Brooklyn Woodshop on a range of sculptural jump ropes in wood that connects art and exercise. A collection of unique — and functional — design objects.
